Who We Are:
Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is the state agency that empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence. It is accomplished through its Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) and Division of Disability Determination (DDD). A fourth area is the Division of Employer and Innovation Services (EIS), which is responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with employers.
What We Do:
OOD works with partners in businesses, education, and non-profit organizations to facilitate customized employment plans for Ohioans with disabilities; helps Ohio companies recruit and retain employees with disabilities; and is the sole agency determining medical and vocational Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs in Ohio.

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR)
OOD operates Ohio’s Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program. Through the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation and Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired, the VR program provides services to eligible individuals with disabilities to assist them in getting and keeping a job. Disabilities may include physical, intellectual, mental health, or sensory disabilities. OOD works with adults seeking to enter the workforce or retain a job, and with youth beginning at age 14, to assist them as they transition from high school into college and/or the workplace.
What is a Caseload Assistant (CA)?
The CA position varies based on the need of your area.
- General CA - position that supports the front door process of our local offices among other supportive duties as assigned.
- Job Development (JD) - position focuses on assisting consumers with job seeking skills training, interviewing skills and assists them with securing and maintaining employment.
- Talent Sourcing Coordinators (TSC) - position focuses on assisting our internal to increase job placements within companies who are a part of the Business Leadership Network.
- Career Resources - Position focuses on meeting with individuals in subminimum wage employment to promote opportunities for competitive integrated employment and share information about supported employment services and career options.

Qualifications
· Undergraduate degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling, counseling, social work, psychology, disability studies, special education, business administration, human resources, economics, or related rehabilitation or human services area.
o OR 24 months' experience in the delivery of vocational rehabilitation services (e.g. job development, certified vocational evaluator, vocational specialist).
o OR Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Note: Education and experience per Code of Federal Regulations Title 34-Subtitle B-Chapter III-Part 361-Subpart B-361.18
· Knowledge of: 1) Public relations; 2) Vocational Rehabilitation*, 3) Agency policies & procedures*, 4) Data collection procedures (e.g. interviewing), 5) Workplace accommodations & rehabilitation technology*, 6) Government programs related to individuals with disabilities (e.g., SSI/SSDI, federal student financial aid, Rehabilitation Act & ADA)*, 7) Conflict resolution techniques, 8) Nature & implications of physical & mental disabilities (e.g. Medical & psychiatric diseases & disorders)*, 9) Human Resource Development, 10) Human Relations, 11) Vocational testing & assessment techniques*, 12) Eligibility criteria*.
· Skill in: 13) Personal computer with Microsoft Office products, 14) Agency software (e.g. AWARE*), 15) Effective communication strategies (e.g. oral & written), 16) Researching techniques, 17) Business acumen, 18) Customer service, 19) Problem solving, & decision making, critical thinking.
· Ability to: 20) Define problems, collect data, establish facts & draws conclusions, 21) Communicate (e.g. oral & written), 22) Handle sensitive face-to-face contacts & develop good rapport with internal & external customers, 23) Deliver presentations, 24) Motivate others to achieve goals, 25) Multitask & prioritize work, 26) Research alternatives & resources, 27) Gather collate & classify information about data, people or things, 28) Develop complex reports, 29) Interpret labor market data*, 30) Develop service plans suitable to individual needs*.

Selection Process: Position(s) are filled through a two-part process, which consists of a test and structured interview. All parts of the assessment will be administered remotely at this time. The test is tentatively scheduled to be on 11/18/2021.
Background Check Information
The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
The final applicant selected for this position will be required to undergo a drug screen prior to final offer. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year.
